The extension to Midlands Prison Portlaoise marked a significant step in the ongoing prison modernisation programme. The project consists of an additional cell block which provided accommodation for approximately 350 prisoners, catering facilities, additional educational, recreational and training facilities.
King and Moffatt were responsible for carrying out the complete electrical installation to the multi-million extension at the prison and continue to carry out work onsite to this day. Working in this kind of environment brings added challenges such as anti-ligature requirements.
