King & Moffatt are proud to have delivered the mechanical and electrical services on McCormick Foods first Net Zero Carbon facility. The facility is the first net zero carbon food manufacturing facility in the UK, and consists of food factory, innovation centre, warehouse and offices. It was developed in line with the UK Green Building Council (UKGBC) Net Zero Building Framework to
deliver net zero in both construction and operations.
The site has been designed to achieve Net Zero in operations and follow sustainability best practice. The project’s operational electricity supply will come from a blend renewable sources including wind, solar, water, thermal and anaerobic digestion. The building will reduce water use through the use of trigger controls at hose points and measurement tools. McCormick Foods facility in Peterborough will also have features such as cutting – edge refrigeration, solar panels and energy efficient steam generators.
